Introduction	In my books and this blog I write about Portland's stairs, paths, beaches, parks, neighborhoods--any bit of infrastructure, oddball plant, geology or arcane bit of city life--I tell its stories. I especially like to write about streets behind the freeway walls, dead-ends that aren't really, and beaches on the Willamette River, even if they're a Superfund site. This blog includes walking routes not in my books. Besides writing books about Portland, I am a contract writer, have created a few app tours and lead occasional walks for public agencies.
