Introduction At the risk of being boastful, I want to make an important point right off the bat: I’m an ass-kicker, in a good way. Most of my colleagues over the past 20 years would tell you the same thing. They’d say I’m the type of editor and writer who’d sooner crawl across shards of glass than blow a deadline. I’ve written and edited for some of the biggest publications in America. I’ve authored a book (“Wrigley Blues”). I’ve won awards. And most importantly, I’ve always tried to give it my best shot. I used to think such traits mattered, but these are crazy times filled with crazy workplaces. One night I was looking at disheartening unemployment statistics on CNN; the next I myself was a disheartening unemployment statistic. Crazy. I’ve always used writing to dig myself out of holes, emotional or otherwise, so I decided to create this blog about my unemployment. Consider it a diary of one man’s quest to find a job (and stay sane) in a bad economy. God knows, there are plenty of people out there who can relate. Here's hoping this thing is short-lived. (A note before we get started: Some of the names have been changed to protect the innocent, and the guilty too.)
