The Kitchen Sink

| Introduction | The Kitchen Sink is the place where it all begins and ends. All of the meals that come out of the kitchen have some component that gets washed in the kitchen sink, dumped down the disposal, and are cleaned up after in the kitchen sink. Rilla spends the majority of the day here. Sometimes doing fun stuff (creating yummy food) sometimes not so much (cleaning J-man's muddy Crocs). The foods that come out of this kitchen, partly by way of the kitchen sink, will be Italian, Asian, Mexican, Hungarian, or none of and all of the above. Depending on Rilla's mood it will be healthy and very simple, comforting and time consuming. But it will always be fresh, seasonal, and made from scratch. When cooking for a family, it has to be inexpensive, healthy, balanced and good. OK so sometimes I might make orzo with saffron...but I didn't buy the saffron. Mom bought it and stuck it in my stocking one year. So if Santa isn't a gourmet there is always an alternative, like mint, parsley, lemon zest...the list is endless. Cooking should be fun, not intimidating. I mean, come on, pate brisee sounds scary...but its just pie dough. And I'll get to that recipe. Just hang on! |
