Introduction	I've been called á la carte in my observances. I can resist prayer and zone out at church. I am uneasy with conservative views on homosexuality, contraception, women's roles etc. Not to mention the abuse of power and trust by church authority which has been brought out into the open in recent years. However, I value the church as a vehicle and community of faith as well as its centuries of wisdom, knowledge and truth. I don't want to throw the proverbial baby out with the bathwater. I am blessed with certain talents and abilities and also get overwhelmed by some of life's challenges. I hold on to the idea that my shortcomings are manifestations of a misdirected hunger to find personal, professional and spiritual fulfillment.
