Introduction I'm a middle-aged lesbian, snugly bonded to another middle-aged lesbian. I live a quiet life bound up by rituals and cats. I wanted to come up with some clever title for my blog, but I don't feel clever and I have to go to work in a few minutes, so I went with what I know. The name comes from back when my kids were little and we'd make that looooong car trip to Chicago from Southern Illinois through 350 miles of cornfields, punctuated by the occasional truckstop. They would sort of melt into little puddle-children on the seats, and periodically one of them would say, "Mom? Where are we?" And I'd say, "Nowhere. Go back to sleep." Eventually, they began to say, "Mom? Are we still in Nowhere?" Nowhere is our family shorthand for the thing that separates us from the thing we want. Miss your cousins? You'll have to do a little time in Nowhere to see them. Nowhere is the Midwestern version of Purgatory.
Interests homebrewing, gardening, woodworking, tooling around on the mower, and books.
Favorite Movies I rarely see movies and even more rarely remember them.
Favorite Music Anything with a twang that engages both my head and my tappin' toe. I'll take Lyle Lovett and John Prine over any of those pretty boys with hats.
Favorite Books My all time favorite is "To Kill A Mockingbird"...I read it every year as a special treat. I also love almost anything by Sheri Tepper, most hardboiled detective novels, and non-fiction that whips up my moral outrage over something. I've got a giant, untapped well of outrage yearning to spring forth. It just needs a Spirit Guide to point it in the right direction to do the most damage.

All of the phone numbers have fallen out of your address book. Whose number do you look for first and why?

I don't know any numbers, so I'd have to wait for anyone who'd like to talk to me to call. But really, I'd prefer they e-mail anyway, so this might not be such a bad thing. The universe takes care of fool and drunkards.
