| Introduction | I'm Ericka Kent. I graduated with my bachelor's degree in Literature and Writing from the University of California San Diego (UCSD) in 2011. I'm attempting to obtain some experience within my field before I continue my graduate studies. I hope to be studying for a Master of Fine Arts in Fiction writing in the near future. I am currently working as a marketing and human resources representative as well as coaching youth girls volleyball at a high school in Santa Clarita, Legacy volleyball club in Santa Clarita, and I volunteer coach for my church. |
| Interests | I enjoy challenges and working through things, I take pleasure in coaching, teaching and inspiring others through education and learning. One of my greatest passions is writing. I plan to spend the entirety of my life writing and learning more about differing writing styles as I strive to perfect my own. Additionally, I want to teach it. |
| Favorite movies | Pretty much anything Disney. As well as anything that makes me laugh, that is always a good time! |
| Favorite music | Thrice and Rise Against are number one. But I also enjoy various techno artist: Above & Beyond, Armin Van Buuren, ATB, Ferry Corsten, Kaskade the list goes on. The only thing I can't stand is country music. |
| Favorite books | There are a lot. Classify me if you must but I love the well known science fiction hits: Harry Potter (all 7), the Twilight Series (New Moon is my favorite), The Hunger Games Trilogy (Catching Fire is the favorite). I have a deep appreciation for the British Classics: Jane Eyre, Pride and Prejudice, etc. However my favorite genre to write in lately is dystopias, one of the most recent I read is When She Woke by Hilary Jordan and that inspired my writing a great deal. |
