| Introduction | Books are a significant part of my life. As a child my mother read to me every day until I demanded to read to her instead. I was the bookish teenage girl who would (and still does) ignore the real world in favor of the world of whatever novel I happened to be reading. Now, as a teacher of prose, books still retain a degree of stature in my life. I dream of the day I have my own library in my home. Yes, I am that girl. |
