| Introduction | I am a monastic solitary of the ecuminical eremite community known as the Community of Solitude. My rule of life is based on the Rule of St. Benedict as lived by the Camaldolese Benedictines. I share a hermitage in the high desert of California with another Sister Solitary of our community and one small mixed siamese/tabby cat whom we rescued from the county animal shelter. Both Sister and I attend the Episcopal and the Roman Catholic Church. Prior to coming to the High Desert I had lived in Iowa as a cenobite monastic in life vows at the Abbey of St. Benedict, an Episcopal Benedictine monastery. However I felt that I was being called into a deeper relationship with God, one of greater silence, solitude and aloneness.And that's where the rest of the story begins here in surburbia? of the High Desert... |
