| Introduction | This page includes many of my original works, however lately, I've become bored with the notion of fabricating poems in the familiar context. I've been anxious with the thought I've been repeating themes too often in my recent works. One night, feeling particularly drained and uninspired, I went to my bookshelf and opened a random book. I challenged myself to use the words in the text to fashion my next poem. What fun! It opened a whole new world of inspiration. I'd stumbled upon a genre of poetry previously unknown to me. Found Poetry is the literary equivalent of a collage. It takes existing texts and refashions them, thus creating a whole new perspective. In this section, I will share Found Poetry fashioned from existing texts. Most of the sources are books that sit upon my bookshelf, although a few come from other sources. Credit for the creative source of the text is listed below each poem. My thanks and admiration goes out to each of the authors of my 'Original Source Texts' for without them, I might still be feeling drained and uninspired |
| Interests | Music, tattoos, the ocean, geology, volcanoes, drawing, painting, photography, the desert, cooking (spicy food!), lemurs, snails, cats, squid, octopus, seahorses, jellyfish, the night sky, astral projection, learning new things, singing while driving, underwear shopping, mind expansion, sleeping, seeing live music, hairy men, and shoes! |
| Favorite movies | I don't watch too many movies, but there are a few that I really like. The Shawshank Redemption, Cider House Rules (both were far better reads- yes, I'm a geek!), Being John Malcovich, Raising Arizona, Fargo, Reservoir Dogs, Office Space, Bandits, Arlington Road, Silence of the Lambs, Vanilla Sky (even though I can't stand Tom Cruise), Bobby, Space Balls, The Cat From Outer Space, Into The Wild, Black Snake Moan, and others I can't recall right now... |
| Favorite music | Everything... As of late: Melvins, Sunn O))), Boris, Fitz of Depression, High on Fire, Opeth, Big Business, Unida, Kyuss, QOTSA, Plaster, Middian, Ocean, Giant Squid, Tool, Cake, Om, Thrones, Earth, Bjork, Fiona Apple, PJ Harvey, Tori Amos um... too many to list off the top of my head, but I tend to lean to the heavy side of things. Love doom, stoner rock, sludge, or any dirty rock you can groove to. Also love music that tells a story of the human experience through lyrics or emotion. I'm a sucker for the 80s tunes too! |
| Favorite books | I read mostly non-fiction and textbooks. Yes, boring sometimes, but highly interesting to me. I also like to read opinion books or essays from various people with non-mainstream thought patterns. This allows for me to think in new ways and expand my horizons. Sparks lots of creative zones in my brain. Favorite fiction authors? Um, that'd have to be Ken Kesey, Wally Lamb, and John Irving. |
