| Introduction | I am a visual artist making representational work in response to personal, social or historical narratives for galleries, public spaces or commissions. I aim to visualise the extraordinary in the ordinary. Intimate objects with a personal narrative are often the starting point for the drawings, prints or artists books. They speak about the daily routines that are underpinning our lives. For large scale public commissions or residencies, a consultation process with the community, user group or client will determine the core elements and content of the artwork; this is then complemented by research into the organisation's records or archives to gather information and visual material. I use a limited range of colours within each piece which gives a quiet and reflective mood. It counteracts any layers of information and complexity of content within the artwork. |
