Introduction	I started to travel early on, using every chance to throw on my backpack and go. Footing it through different countries, staying in hostels, and hopping on the chicken buses. Twenty years later, I still travel but now my work takes me in different directions and in different ways. I've traveled on the backpacker's trail and on diplomatic status. I've been all through Central and South America, many times to Eastern Europe and the Former Soviet Union, done Western Europe, dropped in on a couple countries in West Africa, and spent six months sticking my thumb out in New Zealand.
