| Introduction | The first part of this blog describes a four month period in 2014 preparing for and completing a six-day cycling holiday following the Tour de France through the French Alps with Thomson Bike Tours. The first part of the training took place in my home state of Tasmania, Australia, and the last month in the Maritime Alps behind the city of Nice on the French Riviera. The six-day trip comprised four days of 'preparation' (read softening up) and two days on the Tour stages. In the process we completed five hors categorie climbs, the Col de la Madeleine, Alp d'Huez, Croix de Fer, Col d'Izoard and Chamrousse. The trip was excellent and I highly recommend Thomson Bike Tours to anyone interested in a similar experience. |
