Location Wentworth, NSW, Australia
Introduction In the centre of the historic Wentworth township is Artback Gallery, Café and Function venue. The building, built in 1882, now houses creative and adaptable space for functions and exhibitions. Visitors can enjoy the café’s great coffee, fresh house-made cakes, and light lunches – with most of the products made from locally scouted produce, including fresh vegetables from the local school’s Stephanie Alexander garden, freshly made bread and country-made preserves. The café balcony/decking sits overlooking the Darling River and the wide front verandah surrounding the building and sheltered courtyard are great places to sit and chat with friends or relax and read the paper. Artback Australia has regular art camps and tutored workshops. On the outskirts of the town, at the artists’ residence, are Shearer’s quarters and a studio on the banks of the Darling River. The property originally named, Tara, is a 3.5 acre olive grove and orchard. Tara is a perfect location to visit for aspiring artists to take lessons, develop their skills and gain inspiration.
