| Introduction | For five years the Fool's Brigade has staged an annual benefit for a local charity, featuring Charlotte bands and musicians highlighting the artists who influenced them the most. Last year's show focused on the music of David Bowie, bringing in a record crowd and a record breaking amount of donations. Founded by Bruce Hazel in 2004, the previous shows have benefited the Pillowtex workers, Crisis Assistance Ministry, Hospice of Charlotte, The Charlotte Community Charter School, and, most recently, The Metrolina AIDS Project, raising over $17,000 for these great Charlotte-based causes. The annual benefit was established with a dual intent; to provide assistance to a worthy cause, and to shine a spotlight on the talented group of local music makers who help make Charlotte a thriving and vibrant place to live. |
