| Introduction | First and foremost I would like to point out the use of an indefinite article - i.e. I am not THE Muslim girl. I'm one of many. Furthermore, I am not the badass in the picture. I could never rock a baseball cap and a hijab. It's one or the other. In my career I have come across many a person who has surprisingly misinformed understandings of what it is I am about as a Muslim and I thought maybe there would be less awkward moments when we meet if we could just take care of these strange questions behind the veil of internet anonymity. If you're wondering how I named this website, please refer to the segment on Chapelle's Show "Ask a Black Dude" with comedian Paul Mooney. The segment is most famous for his line "Everybody wanna be a ni**a, but don't nobody wanna be a ni**a." Brilliant. |
