| Introduction | Alex left school after 3rd year with no qualifications, no aspirations and with very little hope for the future. Forced to join the Army, life changed. Selected for specialised military training tested him mentally, physically and academically beyond capacity; he was also awarded a GSM (medal military). Late in life, Alex went back to school and graduated from university with an academic qualification that most academics are unable to achieve. He was also an international sportsman who is now retired from school teaching and other activities and is now focussing on returning to the Ring.
