Introduction	I’ve always knew that I had a knack for creating beautiful things. I love to work with my hands. I’m inspired by my surroundings, my culture, my family, my personality and the blessings of everyday life. I love to hunt for the right fabrics. The colors in the fabrics have to jump out at me and catch my eye. I started making small zipper pouches back in the 80’s. They were easy and quick to create and I was able to envision my creations instantly. At first I made them just for myself and friends. Later I was able to sell them to small boutique shops on consignment. I started to create other items beside pouches. Then I heard about etsy’s and decided to give it a whirl. That’s how “Maria Elena Designs” was created. My creations are great means of expression to share my work. I love meeting other artists and trading notes. I’m totally devoted to the process. Each item that I make is carefully constructed in my smoke-free studio located in Houston,TX.
