| Introduction | Over these past years, I have traveled countless miles and assumed numerous titles in an effort to claim my niche in society's melting pot. I have sampled many cultures, ethnicities, religions, and geographical climes, but have always found that I fit into none of them. It is not that I am an outcast to the beatings of humanities pulse and rhythm, it is just that I have not found what exists within me. I do not relate to others ideals, or customs. And even though I have become separated from all that surrounds me, I know that is what makes me an individual. Independent of that which binds me. Freed of the yolk that attempts to reign me in. Yet, for me, it is an existence without connection. Like an electrical circuit that cannot be closed. A life that is without meaning or purpose. I have returned to the Philippines after 35 years to maybe rediscover what I missed the last time here. I may not find the answers, but I will savor the adventures it has provided me. |
