| Introduction | After adopting Stanley, a reactive 1 y/o border collie in 2003, I decided to study dogs. I am now certified through Animal Behavior College, the Certification Council for Professional Dog Trainers, and a Professional Member of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers. Yearly educational conferences are a highlight for "dog nerds" like me! This past year, I trained a chicken! I have spent hundreds of hours managing dogs (day cares with 30-60 dogs) and instructing both humans and canines in a class room or at home. I currently own Galaxy Dog Training and teach people to better understand their dogs. I play agility with my terrier-ish dog, Lenny, and I play agility, dock jumping, skijor, and I have dabbled in sheep herding with my BC, Stanley. I am very interested in human/canine behavior/cognition and the link between health/nutrition and behavior. Time and time again, I have discovered - sudden changes in behavior are almost always a result of a health problem. An exam by a veterinarian is ALWAYS the first step. Regardless of health, training and teaching is a life long commitment to your dog. |
