Introduction Pacific Primate Sanctuary, Inc. is a federally authorized, nonprofit 501 (C)(3), captive wildlife conservation organization. For 25 years, we have provided refuge and rehabilitation to threatened and critically endangered monkeys. Some are ex-pets, others come from research laboratories, and several have been confiscated from smugglers by government agencies. Most are in a state of distress when they arrive. The Sanctuary provides natural living environments, organically grown fresh fruits, vegetables, forage, and exceptionally dedicated care to South and Central American monkeys in need of refuge. They are housed socially and are not on exhibit. Pacific Primate Sanctuary is run entirely by volunteers. A staff of 15 trained volunteers and 2 interns see to the needs of over 70 small tree dwelling primates. Sanctuary volunteers also provide environmental education outreach programs to our children and community, teaching respect for the Earth and for all living things.
