| Introduction | I have had the privilege of practicing my profession as a music educator for the Toronto District School Board since 2005 and have recently been honoured to be the recipient of the 2014 Prime Minister’s Award for Teaching Excellence 2014. I am deeply committed to music education in the urban core and have witnessed firsthand the transformative potential it can have on the individual student, the school and the community as a whole. My pedagogical approach and education degree is grounded in anti-racist education philosophy and core social justice tenets and I strongly believe that teacher and learner are interconnected and collaboration is key at all levels of learning. |
