Interestsart-making; web 2.0; becoming a champion teacher; landscaping my yard; reading; my boyfriend; my doggie and kitty; exercising; kayaking; movies; stand-up comedy; funny jokes
Favorite moviesAnimation Faves: Up, Avatar, Willie Wonka (old and new!), Edward Scissorhands, Nightmare Before Christmas, Finding Nemo, Pirates of the Carribean (all of them!), The Corpse Bride, Surf's Up, The Incredibles, IronMan,
Favorite musicI'm a bit reminiscent of 80's for dancing - INXS, The Church, Talking Heads....and more! I also am open to anything, but I must say I have a hard time with Chinese Opera...As a teacher, I find I listen and appreciate SILENCE-finding the sounds that are part of the environment very calming after a day filled with teenager talk and sound
Favorite booksI haven't met a book I didn't appreciate! It would be easier to find a book I didn't like. (I do NOT like reading my financial statements or anything that has to do with a legal document...like those boxes they ask you to check at the end of signing up for something online...?) My recent favorite book is, "The Life of Pi" and I found an illustrated copy! I "read" art books, teaching books, travel books, plays, the daily newspaper, labels on everything...I love words! I'm delving into graphic novels to see what my students might like as an alternative to reading (which many of them claim to dislike...HUH? Generation gap? I think it more be like reading is different today than it was when I was a kid. I'm guessing "reading" is code for "TEST" to kids today). I read lots of comics when I was a kid...but now they are so expensive! Comics were nearly free when I was a kid and if I didn't have any, my Uncle had a stack of old ones to share! No wonder kids don't read so much...no wonder kids find time on the internet so intriguing! It's FREE, visually inviting to view, and if you want to know the real story, you read the print/words/links
