| Favorite movies | Fuck movies. They're almost as bad as TV and we all know how I feel about that. About the only times I watch a movie are when I'm supremely bored, depressed, or coerced. For some reason I just can't stare at a vacuum tube for more than ten minutes unless it's plugged into a computer. When I do watch movies, though, I'm a sucker for any Sci-Fi movie with good special effects and a decent plot, like Starship Troopers, Event Horizon, Screamers, The Fifth Element, or Sphere. Older movies are good too sometimes, especially if they have Peter Sellers in them. |
| Favorite music | I like: Simon & Garfunkel, Paul Simon, Rasputina, Matthew Good Band, My Brightest Diamond, Matthew Grimm & The Red Smear, Julia Carroll, and old folk music. I like groups that I can see in person at a small venue, because communication is the point of the whole ordeal. Music is not my life, but it makes a nice soundtrack. |
| Favorite books | I read a fucking lot, and I like many authors as a result: Kurt Vonnegut Jr, Daniel Quinn, John Steinbeck, Clifford D. Simak, Philip K. Dick, C.M. Kornbluth, Michael Cunningham, Stephen Baxter, Arthur C. Clarke, Robert A. Heinlein (eh, kind of), Derrick Jensen, Aldous Huxley, Alan Moore, Chuck Palahniuk, Joanna Russ, and lots of other random books, but mostly I admire classic science fiction because I think it includes some of the best ideas and philosophy of 20th century literature. |
