| Introduction | My life is about food. Growing up in my house it was all about the smells wafting from the kitchen. Rich sauces, tangy meats, loamy drifts of what was baking. Sometimes the recipes were basic: home made pasta, savory soups, loaves of fresh bread and other times the dishes were more complex: crabs, veal loin, and roasted porchetta. But we didn’t just eat the food, we took it in with our eyes, our noses, on our well worn kitchen table, or in our holiday filled dining room. I work in finance during the day, but this heritage remains. It defines in the routines and rhythms of my life. From exploring popular and out of the way eateries, to shopping farmers markets, to spending time with friends in the presence of excellent food and wine. It’s the level of devotion I hold for these things that sparked my interest in last meals. For knowing all of life’s pleasures - in food, in passion, and in our relationships with others - what would any of want to help savor life’s last moments, and say goodbye to the splendor that it offers?
