| Introduction | Dr Bruce Grieve is Director of the Syngenta Sensors University Innovation Centre (SSUIC), School of Electrical & Electronic Engineering, University of Manchester, UK (www.eee.manchester.ac.uk/syngenta). Prior to joining the University in 2007, Dr Grieve spent almost 20 years in major pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies managing R&D into on-line analysis, measurement and informatics systems. His current academic position is a direct consequence from being based in Syngenta’s (www.syngenta.com) New Business Development unit. That role involved working with commercial managers to determine how sensors and ICT technologies could be exploited to deliver innovative solutions for the global agri-food sector. |
