| Introduction | The brainchild of local DJ and social engineer, Chris Alker, Art After Midnight is a weekly D.A.N.C.E. party hosted by himself and long time best friend Steve Hardy aka Sushi Steve. Frustrated by the growing “jukebox disease” and “can’t-dance-must-pose- disorder,” the party is bent on merging dance, music, fashion and art in a way that seems to have been lost in the Lower East Side. The party is more than an homage to the vibrant art-inspired nightlife of the late eighties in the area, it is a new beginning. Every month Gallery Bar hosts new up and coming artists, and Art After Midnight brings in special guest DJs weekly to shed fresh light on the return to dance music and the art of the DJ. |
