Introduction	I was elected to the Australian Commonwealth Parliament as the member for the Victorian seat of Menzies in 1991, was appointed the Minister for Ageing on the 23rd November 2001 and in October 2003 I was appointed as the Minister for Employment and Workplace Relations. On 30th January 2007 I was appointed as the Minister for Immigration and Citizenship. I have also served on a number of policy and parliamentary Committees, including: Chairman of the Federal Government's Policy Committee on Family and Community Services Chairman, House of Representatives Committee on Legal and Constitutional Affairs Member of Joint Select Committee on Family Law Issues
