| Introduction | I am a 28 year old newlywed and alien to the U.S. I recently moved from the wonderful city of Vancouver, B.C. to the tiny and beautiful town of Oroville, WA to live with my husband. I work as an Educational Advocate (EA) at the Omak Middle School (OMS) and a Student Assistance Specialist (SAS) at Omak High School (OHS). As an EA, I compile a caseload of students who are at-risk of dropout based on grades, attendance, discipline, and juvenile justice system involvement, and do what I can to keep them engaged in school. As an SAS, I work with the students that have drug and alcohol issues, doing pre-assessments, referring to community resources, one-on-one work, and leading groups. |
