| Introduction | Hello there, my name is Rachel and I am what most call an artist despite my two unused and dusty bachelor degrees in Elementary Education and Graphic Design. As an adult I have resided in the city of Buffalo and the farmlands of Western New York with Bessie the cow and corn, wheat or soy as my neighbors depending on the season. Currently, I live 1/2 a mile from where I started in the suburbs with a husband, child, three fish, a cat and a hermit crab. My artistic endeavors have varied over the years. Murals, watercolors and pastels have been the overriding theme. After pondering the use of paper and color for a couple of years, yeah that long, I woke up one day and decided it was time to forge a new artistic pathway. The juxtaposition and textures of color are what I enjoy playing with the most. Light fast, acid free inks and dyes are applied to hand formed and layered papers as the foundation for my line of vases, bowls, frames, mini art, light catchers and jewelry. Each piece is unique and one of a kind due to the process of hand laid color. There are no less than 20 steps between the conception and birth of each piece. |
| Interests | Exploration of color using various materials and methods. Currently I work with ink and dyed papers. |
