Almany spent 26 years as a high school basketball and track and field coach and five years coaching on the collegiate level. He was an athletic director for 12 years and a building principal for 13 years. As a head basketball coach his teams compiled an overall winning percentage of .737. His various teams in three states combined to win 17 Conference titles, 10 district championships, finished in the state top four 3 times and claimed one state title.
