| Introduction | I am a retired civil engineer, originally graduated from the University of North Dakota in 1971 with a major in philosophy and minor in math, and later with a degree in engineering in 1981. I've always been interested in ultimate questions about creation and the universe, and considered myself to be an atheist from early high school until I discovered the Baha'i Faith in the early 1970s. I have since become to believe both intellectually and existentially in the existence of God. One of the fundamental principles of the Faith, and the one that most interests me, is the harmony of science and religion as two complementary ways of exploring and understanding creation. That theme will figure prominently in my blog. My other main interest is the insight that the Baha'i Faith offers on theological and philosophical questions. |
| Interests | Baha'i Faith, astrophysics, cosmology, philosophy, theology, philosophy of science, computer programing |
| Favorite music | Most anything by Beethoven, particularly compositions from his "late period". Bach, particularly The Goldberg Variations and the French Suites. Shostakovitch (sometimes - depends on my state of mind), Prokofiev, Mahler. The Grateful Dead, Pink Floyd, Buckethead, Foxes and Fossils, Keith Jarrett. |
| Favorite books | Baha'i Books: Tablets of Baha'u'llah, Some Answered Questions, Epistle to the Son of the Wolf. The Meaning of the Qur'an, translated and annotated by Muhammad Asad. War and Peace by Leo Tolstoy, too many others to list. |
