| Introduction | Holly Porter: I am a PhD student at the London School of Economics doing research in northern Uganda about justice & social healing after sexual violence. My research explores the relationship between justice after war related crime and justice after ordinary crime. I combine the heart of my research, participant observation, with survey & interview data. Because of my interest in man made disasters I've worked in the fields of humanitarian aid, conflict resolution, human rights & transitional justice. I am also a lover of yoga, gardening, coffee, God, trees, dancing, Italian film, outdoor markets, mountains, BBQs, books, conversation, & wind chimes—in no particular order. Ben Porter: After a year away from Uganda in London working as a part-time psychotherapist at the Helen Bamber Foundation; an organisation that supports asylum seekers & refugees who have been tortured and working as a research officer for People in Aid & InterHealth on staff care for International Aid workers I am now starting Uganda's first ropes course, inspiring young people to overcome fear and patterns of war through active healing experiences. |
