| Introduction | A site along the southern Rio Pueblo de Taos where there was a 1993 landslide which closed off county road 110 to vehicular traffic. Due to this road closer the site has become an 'end of the road' hiking and hang out site for Taoseños. It has also served for generations as a liminal edge where machinery and domestic trash has been rolled, thrown and tossed into the cavernous arroyos. Beautiful Midden is an artistic inquiry into the history of this site and traditional uses of the land, as well as questions into the human consciousness related to the trash thrown (midden) and the (beautiful) nature that cradles it. |
