Introduction Originally from Nashville, Tennessee, I have lived in Southern California for over 30 years with a five year vacation in Florida. Actually we lived there but it seemed like a vacation. My husband and I have been married for, shall we say a LONG time and we have one daughter, one son-in-law and one perfect little grandson. If you have ever spoken with me, you are aware I will bring her into the conversation somehow. I am a Californian by choice but my roots are Southern and there my hearts dwells. My cooking, decor, pace-of-life and accent are very Nashville. To outsiders, all Southerners came from the farm and let me tell you, I did not. I came from the suburbs just like most of you reading this. We did go to the "country" once to get a kitten from a chicken farmer but that's all I got there! My formal education is in the area of Home Economics which I believe no longer exists. It was fun and my intent was to do something related to fashion. Well, I never did much in that field but I must say, I do appreciate what I learned and use it daily.
Interests Family; Antiques and anything painted white; Southern cooking; photography; travel; my pets, Maximilian, Ruby and Lola.
Favorite Movies OMG, any of those beautiful Southern movies with music, and pretty dresses and magnolias. To name a few, The Long Hot Summer, Crimes of the Heart, To Kill a Mockingbird and The Devine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood. And yes, I like Fried Green Tomatoes. I would not be allowed below the Mason-Dixon line if I left it out.
Favorite Music Definatly 60's music because I was growing up then, 70's music because I fell in love then, 80's because that's when we moved to California and my first job here was at a country music radio station and I like Andre Bocelli and Il Divo. Also I like the music from any show I have recently seen for a while. There was the Mama Mia phase, the Jersery Boy phase, years ago there was the Chorus Line phase which returns everytime I am in an elevator in New York, but not necessarily the Zumanity phase! Was there music in Zumanity?
Favorite Books The mother of a past boyfriend of my dear daughter, got her hooked on Nora Roberts so I have followed. Currently enjoying her bride series. A few others are The Ya-Ya series by Rebecca Wells, most anything by Dorothea Benton Frank and I am currently reading Nancy Grace's The Eleventh Victim. Update: The Help, well a customer recommended it to me almost a year ago. I got the wonderful ipad 2 for my birthday so I downloaded it. Honestly, I have not finished the book. Remember "Speed Reading"? Perhaps that is what I did. It may be that I am just not in to electronic book reading. But I did more or less read it and I bought the movie. It's quite moving for me to read. I was pretty young at the time the story is set but I was certainly aware of situations in the South. In a strange way, it is a beautiful story and one we can all learn from!
