Introduction Razu Ahmed Mamun, a poet and a journalist, was born in the southern district of Barguna, Bangladesh, in a seashore village of Lalupara on Jan 1, 1974. His latest collection of poems, 'Mangrove Mon', has earned critical acclaim for its innovative treatment of nature and the surroundings of Sunderban, the forest by the shore of the Bay of Bengal. It is noteworthy that though mangrove forests exist in 55 other countries, and are considered the most diverse eco-system teeming with life, its presence is rare in world literature. Besides a couple of novels, and a play, Razu's other collections of poetry include 'Dohon Sankrantir Kobita (2006), and 'Om Nirorthokota, Om Goti Shwashwoto (2008).
