| Introduction | I was born in Belfast, as my father was stationed there in the Fleet Airarm, but I grew up on the Isle of Wight. I moved away from home to train in London, first in Physiotherapy, and then as a Speech and Language Therapist. I got married in August 1971 while I was still at University. I met my husband Michael in Jack Straw's Castle pub, on Hampstead Heath, where I worked part time to supplement my grant. My first job was back on the Island in 1972, and I worked there on and off until 1981, having my two children in 1975 and 1977. We moved to Ontario, Canada, in June 1981 and lived there for 15 years. We returned to UK in June 1996, and back to the Island in January 1998, until 2012 when I was made redundant in the NHS. I retired to Ireland in 2014. |
