| Introduction | I live in the New Town of Edinburgh, in amongst scores of Charity Shops where fabulous old people give away all their vintage things and I get a lot of my ideas and stock for Silk Purse, Sow’s Ear. I love the idea of my jewellery being bunged on. I love the idea of a massive pearl cocktail ring with jeans and an old jumper. I love the idea of a lion brooch worn with a vintage flowery tea dress. The only decade I don’t love that much is the nineties, presumably because I was a teenager during said decade and sported, at various points, tie-died skirts, black nail varnish, lumberjack shirts, Heather Shimmer lipstick and a Rachel from Friends haircut. That’s all behind me now. Because I use genuine antique materials for my vintage jewellery, many of my pieces are one-offs or limited runs.
