| Favorite music | Thanks to OSPA leaders’ support, Tupiniquim Jazz Orquestra was able to borrow compositions from world renowned composers such as Villa Lobos, Hermeto Pascoal, Tom Jobim, Egberto Gismonti, Moacir Santos, Radamés Gnatalli, Edu Lobo, Chico Buarque, Guinga, amongst many others. These pieces, originally adapted for OSPA’s formation of thirty were then shrunk to its formation of twelve, comprising: guitar, bass, cavaquinho, drums, flutes, clarinets, saxophones and trombone. |
| Favorite books | Tupiniquim is a Brazilian indigenous group, from the Tupi nation, currently located in the Southeastern part of the country. According to Brazilian etymology, the term tupiniquim is derived from the indigenous expression tupin-i-ki, or tupinã-ki, meaning ‘the neighboring tribe’. In contemporary colloquial language tupiniquim has become a metonynm for all that is Brazilian in essence, which preserves local culture and protects native customs. |
