Introduction On September 11th 2001, I left Austin Texas to join the Army and was delayed in entering due to the attack on our country. It took almost week before I could leave for basic training and eventually found myself through basic training and on my way to the 82nd Airborne. I had less than 6 months before my unit would be called to Afghanistan and almost exactly a year after my initial deployment to Afghanistan my unit was driving across the border of Kuwait into Iraq for my second deployment. 10 days after arriving in Iraq, my Humvee was hit by a road side bomb (IED) and two pieces of shrapnel hit me in my lower back. For a year I kept the shrapnel in my lower back before a Doctor back in Ft Bragg agreed to have surgery and in 2005 I headed back to Austin to start my new journey in college. My goal now is to win Mizuno’s playfamously contest and use this to help my career in golf. I want to grow the game of Golf here in West Texas and also show other Wounded Veterans how therapeutic the game of golf can be, it saved my life.
