| Introduction | John S. Maxson is President & CEO of the Greater North Michigan Avenue Association, the principal business development and community advocate for Chicago’s Magnificent Mile. Prior to joining GNMAA in 2004, he was president of the Illinois Coalition, the association of Illinois’ research universities, national laboratories, large technology corporations, and tech-driven entrepreneurs, a position he assumed in 2002. Prior to that he held various management positions in operations and government affairs at ComEd for nearly 32 years, including 11 years as the company’s Washington lobbyist. His experience has given him a strong appreciation for the potential of promoting partnerships, leveraging government resources, and building teams to achieve goals based on strong mutual interests. He is a graduate of MacMurray College (BA 1968) and Northwestern University (MBA 1976). He taught Physics and Math at Adlai Stevenson High School, Lincolnshire, Illinois, for two years following college. He and his wife Jennifer have two adult children, Pres and Liz. His personal interests include Chicago history and architecture, photography, playing bluegrass guitar, and driving his 1941 Packard. |
