IntroductionI'm Victor Pleshev, an architect. Not the black clothes, large words sort of architect but the other kind. I've had my own medium sized practice in Sydney and now work from a rural property in the Central Tablelands of NSW Australia. With 30 years experience I've worked on just about every building type from hotels and shopping centres to renovations, artists’ studios and even a bird house or two (you see birds need architects too). In between I've designed houses, offices, warehouses, restaurants, cafes, interiors and gardens. A sideline is product design and graphics. If the truth be known, I just love solving problems and putting solutions together. The greatest thrill I get is when my clients get more than they expected. Over the years I’ve become frustrated with the narrowing of ideas in the profession and the fashionable uniformity that’s overtaking our environment. These days, most of our buildings seem to look like off white plastic bricks, so I’ve started this dialogue to see what you think.
