Introduction	Welcome to my “Aussie Island Bound Blog”. By now you have probably heard of the “Best job in the World”. I am applying for this once in a lifetime opportunity. This blog will be my journal of the application process. Follow along and watch as you help me become the new Caretaker of Hamilton Island, Australia. Then you can follow along with me in my new job and learn all about the Whitsunday islands and the Great Barrier Reef. After learning about the wonderful Whitsunday islands and all of the great things to do there, who knows, we may even meet on Holiday in Australia? A little about me, I’m 31 years old and would say that I've lived a little, loved a little, cried a little and laughed as much as possible. I currently live in the mountain town of Durango, Colorado. Durango is a great place to live if you love the outdoors and really great people. I've traveled around, more than some, less than others. I’ve never been to Australia, though I’ve always wanted to go. Hopefully this new job will be my opportunity to explore some of what Australia has to offer.
Favorite movies	I am a movie buff, watch it once and I know all of the references and lines. I own over 500 movies and TV Seasons, so I don’t usually run out of the classics to re-watch. What I watch though, all depends on the mood I’m in, I love dramas, Romance, Comedy, and some good old cheesy Action; John McClain is the greatest. Favorites would be just about anything from the 80’s, especially the Brat Pack movies and anything old and current from John Cusack. Recent good flicks were; Definitely Maybe, Traitor, Starter for 10, & Ghost Town. I like the indies and Big Box Office hits, really it all hinges on the story.
Favorite music	All kinds, The Beasties will always be my first love though. Kinda depends on the mood, Hanging out; it’s everything from the pop like JT, and other top 40’s to the classics of Zeppelin, Hendrix, Clapton to the soothing sounds of Paul Simon, Dixie Chicks, Gypsie Kings and Buena Vista Social Club. Driving; I like something I can sing along to like the Violent Femmes, Cake or just the pure sounds of Pearl Jam, Jane’s Addiction and the Clash. Romantic night; always count on Maxwell, U2, Dave Mathews, Sarah McLachlan, Al Green and Marvin Gaye among others. Working out; give me the lovely beats of the Chemical Brothers, Rage Against the Machine and the rhythmic hip hop beats of the Roots, Common, Talib Kweli and Atmosphere.
Favorite books	It's amazing, I went 20 some odd years with barely ever reading a text book, now though I can't stop. I'll read just about anything, love the Satire of Christopher Moore (I've heard that they are going to make Blood Sucking Fiends into a movie) Recent and old reads worth mentioning: "Snowflower and the Secret Fan" Was definitely quality. “Middlesex” was good...don't know about all the hype around it though. “Round Ireland with a Fridge”, Thank you little Sis, great read and definitely gives you the bug to travel and explore. I just finished “The Alchemist”. Nice personal introspection and philosophical, though I think I enjoyed “Life of Pi” and “Ishmael” more. One of my favorite books of all time is “Color of Water”, if you haven’t read it yet, put it on your list, you won’t be disappointed.
