| Introduction | Hi, I’m Pity Parker, a Poet, Writer, and Assistant Professor in English Literature. In short, I decided to torture myself with words for a living. My story started at Andhra Loyola College, where I began my tryst with English Literature. Then, for reasons still unclear to me, I went on to The English and Foreign Languages University in Shillong to earn my Master’s degree because apparently, one degree in overthinking texts wasn’t enough.Then, somehow managed to qualified for NET. At 20, I somehow managed to write my first book, Shadruchulu, in Telugu. When most people were busy figuring out life, I was busy arguing with metaphors. Since then, I’ve written a few more: Easy English, IdioMaster, Mulla Chinukulu, I Trust in Jesus, and Talking Pool. Each one taught me something new about writing… and about caffeine dependency. These days, I split my time between the I&PR Department, Government of Andhra Pradesh, and my role as Honorary Programs Coordinator at Youth Empowering Service – Jesuits, Andhra Loyola College. It’s a busy life, but I still find time to wrestle with words and wonder why I ever thought being a writer was a good idea. |
