| Introduction | I am a Buddhist Monk and Contemplative following my practice and sharing some of my experiences here. Being a western monk ordained to an eastern tradition, I have decided to round out my education by examining the western tradition of thought and philosophy. On this blog entitled 'Occidentum et Orientum', which is subtitled 'Exploring Human Cognizance' I will attempt to auto-didactically experience a Western 'Classical Education' comprised of the 'Seven Liberal Arts' which are broken down into the Trivium and Quadrivium. My other blog was created in order to chronicle my experiences during a one year life experiment entitled "A Year to Live; Living for a Year as Though it Were My Last". This practice is based upon the book "A Year to Live" by Stephen Levine. The practice commenced on 08 July, 2008 and ended successfully on 09 July, 2009. This was then followed by a '1000 days of Ferocious Effort' practice, which was also completed successfully.
