| Location | London, Greater London / almost Essex, United Kingdom |
| Introduction | Born in 1952 in London. Been variously involved in the music business and then television (starting with the glorious Malcolm Gerrie) and movies; ran the London Screenwriters' Workshop in the early 1990s; subsequently approached by Hodder & Stoughton to pen Teach Yourself Screenwriting (1995 to present) - now an international best seller [even if I do say it myself]. Taught and lectured in the UK, Europe (esp. Spain) and USA (New York, Boston, north-eartesrn seaboard). Probably more respected (famous?) abroad than I am in the UK - oh well, that's how it goes... Interestingly, lately, people seem to want to photograph me / interview me / make films about me. Who knows where I shall be by the end of 2010...somebody give me a reason to stay in the UK! |
| Interests | Movies and TV / Screenwriting, clothes staying healthy. |
| Favorite movies | It's A Wonderful Life, Singin' In The Rain, Field Of Dreams, Spider-Man, If..., Women In Love, Kes, The Graduate - oh, let me think of some more. TV series I loved (but mostly short-lived): Action (with Jay Mohr), Men (from Canada), Profit (with Adrian Pasdar), the Jeremy Brett Sherlock Holmes, anything spiffingly country house/Poirot/Agatha Christie/Jeeves & Wooster, that sort of confection, what! - and Charlie Brooker's ScreenWipe (how could I forget that?)......let me add to this later. |
| Favorite music | Far too many to mention and of all styles. |
| Favorite books | Teach Yourself Screenwriting (natch), The Bow Tie Book (see www.myspace.com/thebowtiebook) - proposal available, Ray Frensham's The Book of Treatments (pending). |
