| Introduction | Hi, Though I am 41 years of age, and 'digital immigrant', I am fortunate to have been able to acquaint myself with the very first examples of home computers - the Commodore VIC-20 and the Commodore-64. These computers required the user to type up a DOS program to run before the computer would do anything useful. This process could take anywhere up to 24 hours of typing and problem solving to locate errors. Needless to say this type of computer spurred the Microsoft inventors to produce the Windows software, IBM to produce more user friendly storage devices and of course Apple to produce their version the Mac. I was again fortunate to work in the Defence Force who were among other government organisations who provided each worker with a desk top computer for everyday use, as well as an intranet. This was ground breaking technology of it's day. I have maintained my use and interest in technology which has provided me with the confidence I have today to embrace new ideas, concepts and uses. I look forward to using ICT's in my classroom as a sound pedagogical approach. |
