| Introduction | Dr. Jennifer Thackston Johnson is Assistant Professor of Chinese at Austin College in Sherman, TX. She holds a Ph.D. and an M.A. from the University of California, Los Angeles and an A.B. from Smith College. Her dissertation, Creating Gender in the Interregnum: Women’s Literature and Social Change in Twentieth Century China examines the tumultuous history of women’s subjectivity in the PRC from the 1919 May Fourth Movement to present day. She currently teaches courses in Chinese language, as well as modern literature and culture. |
