| Introduction | While growing up In St. Petersburg, Russia, I was introduced to a broad range of visual arts from the Ancient to the Western European culture. My family is artistically inclined and avid collectors of antiques and old master paintings. When I was about five years old, my mother, who worked at the Kirov Ballet Theater used to take me with her to work. From 12 till 19 years of age I was a student at The State Hermitage Museum of Art in the heart of St. Petersburg. The museum is dedicated to fostering the artistic spirit in children of all ages. Each curator of the museum, artists or professional of a particular art genre taught us how to mix paint, feel, see and imagine new objects by developing our own art style. I was introduced to the best that The Hermitage could offer. I moved to Santa Barbara, California and became a student at Santa Barbara City College (SBCC.) I took art classes in pottery and decorative leather. In 1998, I moved to New York City and worked at the Plaza Hotel. I became enchanted by the decor of the French Renaissance Style. It became my new inspiration, paintings: "Flower Funtasy" and "Sun Flowers". |
