| Introduction | I was Born in Kansas City and have lived most of my life in Missouri. I attended the University of Missouri, where I earned an A.B. in history followed by an M.D.My life's work has been to ensure the adequacy and safety of America's Blood Supply. Along the way, I went from blood bank physician and medical researcher, to administrative physician, to CEO. I served four cities during my career, Lexington (KY), St. Louis, Dallas and Milwaukee. I cherish academic affiliations in each community. I retired, prematurely it seems, for family reasons, and have served as a teacher and consultant in the last few years. I many interests and hobbies, as the reader shall hear. More important, I have a loving family: Jeanne, my wife, Joyce, oldest child, John Lucas Miller and his family, Dan and Maggie, and my youngest, Mitch.
