| Introduction | I am a vibrant, young, lifelong Tampanian (other than 4 years in Hendersonville/Nasville). I was a Commercial/Residential Property Manager and Bookkeeper for a successful Real Estate Investment corporation, hoping to finish my degree sometime in the next decade. I have adult idiopathic degenerative scoliosis and battled with the decision to have spinal surgery since 14. I had it on 1/19/2012. I managed my pain with Pilates and PT, but my curvatures were so advanced I suffered decompression, pinched nerves, degenerated discs, advanced arthritis, among other problems. This blog is a journal of my journey through surgery. My dream and goal since 8 years old has been a doctorate degree. Now that I am focusing full time on recovery I have returned to school and want to start a non-profit for Scoliosis. I am passionate, strong willed, stubborn, a bit of a know it all, and highly opinionated. Hopefully I can provide you with some Scoliosis experience, advice, and amusement. Here goes... |
| Interests | Spending time with my family and friends, reading, Pilates and overall fitness and nutrition, rollerblading, playing the flute, crafts, any and all history, military history and strategy, breast cancer awareness, scoliosis awareness and support, Daughters of the American Revolution, Ocean-Earth-Wildlife Conservation, the beach, tanning (with SPF lotion-skin cancer runs in my family), decorating, to name a few and just enjoying life to the fullest each day! |
| Favorite movies | Anything involving thriller type suspense or true crime. I am a fantasy/Sci-Fi nerd. Star Wars and Lord of the Rings are not only favorite movies, but I have read the books as well. Love comedy. Hate dramas, the Notebook made me want to gouge my eyes out. I could possibly be the biggest Harry Potter nerd in the world. I have read each book at least twice and own all movies and can sadly recite them from memory. Gone With The Wind, Phantom of the Opera, Chicago, Blow, The Patriot, A Few Good Men, Jurassic Park(s), anything involving military strategy and action, LOVE musicals. |
| Favorite music | Everything, I play the flute and have a true appreciation for all music. Love Country, Rock, Alternative, Pop, Classical, not a big fan of Rap, Reggaeton, Show Tunes and anything from Broadway/Off Broadway, Musicals, as I said everything |
| Favorite books | Again, super nerd. I am generally reading about three books at the same time on top of doing personal research into history, military strategy, politics, criminology, fitness and nutrition, info on how to help my stepson with his studies and behavior, I love to read. Everything. Reading is the foundation for a successful life. I started at 11 months old and will never stop. I love John Grisham, Patricia Cornwell, Tom Clancy, Stephen King, Michael Crichton, Mary Higgins Clark, to name a few. |
